Speaker: Kuya Mon Fernandez

Texts: Matthew 9:14-17; Mark 2:18-22; Luke 5:33-39

14Then the disciples of John came to Him, saying, “Why do we and the Pharisees fast often, but Your disciples do not fast?”15And Jesus said to them, “Can the friends of the bridegroom mourn as long as the bridegroom is with them? But the days will come when the bridegroom will be taken away from them, and then they will fast. 16 No one puts a piece of unshrunk cloth on an old garment; for the patch pulls away from the garment, and the tear is made worse. 17 Nor do they put new wine into old wineskins, or else the wineskins break, the wine is spilled, and the wineskins are ruined. But they put new wine into new wineskins, and both are preserved.” (Matthew 9:14-17 NKJV)

(Mateo 9:14-17 FSV)

Objectives:

  1. To know (isaisip) and passionately (isapuso) implement (isagawa) God’s new direction for JIA.
  2. To know (isaisip) and passionately (isapuso) adapt new structures and systems based on the new direction.
  3. To knowledgeably and passionately value stewardship and administration.

Proposition:

The new direction requires new structure and new systems for the vision keepers to passionately steward and administer the qualitative and quantitative results of the expansion.

Introduction:

The parable of new wineskin is the response of Jesus to the question about fasting, “Why do we and the Pharisees fast often, but Your disciples do not fast?” Matthew 9:14

Applications:

The parable teaches us to go against syncretism – the mixing of beliefs.

The parable shows us that new and old are incompatible and that combining the two will never work.

Transitory statement: Apply the truths to the context of JIA churches and JIA workers.

JIA new wine – Kingdom Building Directions.

  1. JIA 2nd journey
  • Vision 2020 through CLUES JIA worldwide
  • Local and Foreign missions

  1. Characteristics of new wine
  • Expansive and dynamic
  • Relevant
  • Creates change

Transitory statement: Now that we know the new directions of God for JIA and for you as a worker, how are we going to implement them? How can we make the vision into a reality?

  • Matthew 14:21 feeding of 5 000 men
  • Acts 6:1-7 “Selection of seven faithful men as the church grew”

Transitory statement: creating and applying new and effective structures and systems that are necessary to successfully implement God’s new direction, but also keeping in mind that workers need to do their part diligently

JIA new workers

  1. Qualities of the new workers
  • Head, Heart, Hand
  1. Reward of the new workers

Application: You (workers) are the main players and the key persons on the success of implementing God’s direction, together with the effective structures and systems.

Conclusion:

Beloved, the new Jesus Is Alive direction must be laid in a new structure and implemented with grit and determination using new systems that are relevant and effective to current times. By pursuing the same direction with the same heart, we can produce qualitative and quantitative results.
